Screenlets
is small applications called widgets for gnome desktop, such as displaying the date, time, slideshow images, weather information, etc.. Widgets can be configuration like theme, size or location. In other words our desktop more attractive using this widget.
Install:
open a terminal and type
sudo apt-get install Screenlets
Once installed try to open applications / Accesories / Screenlets , to open Screenlets manager and select the widget to be display, after being selected launch / add and then drag to the desired location. still in Screenlets manager select "Running Screenlets" and check the "Auto start on login" to automatically run the widget each time booting.

DockbarX
is a taskbar with grouping and group manipulation with some "experimental" features compared to Docbark. The panels more simple, efficient with mini previews as well as in Windows 7
Install:
open a terminal and type
sudo apt-add-ppa repository: nilarimogard/webupd8
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install dockbarx
after installed go to applications / Accesories / DockbarX Preferences. In the preferred Appearance Select Theme in Window List and check the show previews to display the preview windows.

Cairo-dock
Cairo-Dock is an animated application launch bar for the desktop, comparable to the dock in Mac OS X or Rocket Dock (for Windows). cairo-dock is compatible with Compiz-Fusion, Beryl, Compiz, Metacity, KWin, Xcompmgr, etc.. Cairo-Dock can run on desktop GNOME, KDE and XFCE.
Install:
open a terminal and type
Sudo apt-get install cairo-dock cairo-dock-plug-ins
Once installed open applications / Accesories / Cairo-Dock will appear on the desktop then right click select configure to change the theme, layout, etc.
